Sitting in a Mexican restaurant one evening, a friend of mine politely challenged me on a story I had just finished telling.
Friend: “Shut the hell up, dude. No way that shit’s true.”
At the exact moment he claimed that so many of my “tall tales” seemed cartoonishly ridiculous, I took a bite of my burrito and spit out a human tooth.
Friend: “Whoa! Is that yours?”
Josh: {feeling around my mouth} “I don’t think so.”
I immediately approached one of the employees and showed her the molar.
Josh: “So I just found something interesting in my burrito. I’m not going to bias your opinion, but what does this look like to you?”
She stared at the object for a moment, then said –
Employee: “Turkey?”
Josh: “Turkey?! Are you ser –?! You’re a Mexican restaurant. You don’t even serve turkey.”
Employee: {pause, then} “Mexican turkey?”
Back at the table, my friend apologized for his earlier remark.

No, I just made that up. But a lot of stuff like that happens to me. I swear.
This website is a collection of my miscellaneous writing over the years — some true, some based in reality, and some completely false…but hopefully all entertaining.
Peruse at your leisure — and PLEASE RATE THE PIECES. That way, the cream will rise to the top. Thanks and enjoy.

Dear Josh,
Entertaining shit, good shit… I could eat that shit. Okay, why am I writing you a complete stranger (or in fact someone who I know whose face I would recognize and now am embarassing myself). I am editing a book I wrote about twelve years ago that I use to teach short films. I think your columns are the great beginning jumping off places for a short film. So, I would like, with your permission to see if I can use one of your brief imagined or real interludes to spark and idea or two or — as well as — if you want to muse how you might develop a snipit into a snip and into a short film concept or a webisode… that would be great, and I could interview you for my book, too!
Have you ever written a short? I see you went to UCLA, I teach at USC, but I am good pals with Lew Hunter where I was an exec at Columbia Pictures TV.
So, love to hear your thoughts… As well as, it would be great to get your take on being a writers asst. how you broke into that, what your suggestions for using short branded media to launch a career. A blog is short branded media, is it not, or is it now if it is not transposed into a visual medium. A debate has been officially or unofficially launched. Best, Devo http://www.devoronpix.com

I really couldn’t ask for more from this article.
This just makes me smile and laugh. You’re
very entertaining. Thanks!
