“I Hate When People Ask Me to Take Care of Their Pets”

A friend of mine just went to Portugal for a couple of months, and she asked that I ship her dog to her once she arrived.

Yes.  Ship it.

I was instructed to give the dog tranquilizer pills before I Fed-Ex’d him off in some special delivery box with ventilation.  Regardless of the safety, this seemed a little inhumane to me…and, of course, I only felt worse when I had to trick the dog into taking the pill.  I went up to the animal like –

Josh: {holding a piece of food with the pill inside} “Kiki?  Here, Kiki.  You want some cheese?”

It was scary, though, because I wasn’t instructed how much of a pill to give the dog.  Half?  A quarter?  Six at a time?  I didn’t know.

So I started out with ½ of a pill.  Dog ate it, passed out…

…and immediately woke up four minutes later.  So I’m thinking, Okay, the dog needs to be out for 10 hours.  What’s 10 hours divided by four minutes?

But I couldn’t figure it out, so I just gave the dog eleven pills.

My friend informed me that Kiki arrived safely in Portugal and that it only took one month and a couple of days for the dog to come out of his coma.
